For a better understanding of the kind of “jobs” you have to perform, such actions are listed as “workflow” below:

Download and Installation

This step is explained in detail in the chapter Download and Installation and is needed the first time you start working with mz3ToolM and in case of updates.
You can install an update without un-installing the actual version. So you can test first before you decide to change.
Please keep in mind, that every version consumes some disk space. Therefore a regular purge of old versions is recommended.

Start of mz3Tool

You’ll find a new icon on your (Windows) desktop after a successful install. The program can be started as usual with a double-click on that icon.
Alternatively, you’ll find mz3Tool in the project folder (MAC OSx: “Applications”) and call it from there.

First Book

After a new installation, there is no book available and the only options are:

Enter the License Key

The license key is needed to show a book without watermark.

This not only saves a step (you get first results faster) ), but also limits the conversion of a PDF file to 10 pages. This is sufficient for a first check.
The PDF conversion of a single file takes some time because 3 image types are built per page (SW, PNG, JPG).

Before publishing the book you should set the license key so the watermark disappears and all pages can be converted.

Fill Book with Media

An easy option is to make use of a PDF file, followed by adding the converted Page Images to empty pages.
Alternatively, you can add images (either as page background or as single images in a layout) and other elements (video, audio) directly on pages.

Show Book

A first check can be done using the always present preview of the actual book. This represents the look&feel of a book shown in mz3Viewer or with FLASH in a browser.

Mouse clicks and gestures are disabled for megazine, because these actions are used to control mz3Tool, like selecting elements.or opening the Modify Elements Window. Therefore videos and audio files cannot be opened. And page flips via drag&drop etc. are possible neither.

To test all that it is necessary to open the book in either mz3Viewer or the browser.
You can quickly open mz3Viewer via a special command in the menu: Info – Open in Viewer.
mz3Viewer is a (free Windows) or MAC OSx App,

To judge the look&feel of a final Book as Javascript (or FLASH) version, you should make that choice when publishing the book (see Publish/Distribute), and then upload the Online Package to your server.
If you installed XAMPP on your computer, a perfect option is making use of that local server instead of a “real server”. This saves upload-time and makes testing faster and easier.

You no longer need to adjust the “Publish Folder” yourself any longer.
After the Online Package was created, a special button is offered so you can start the book using XAMPP; with a single click of a button!
