Special Remarks

Some of the settings available in the mz3Viewer version are useless for the Javascript version.
Some features had been added to the Javascript version that are not supported in mz3Viewer (e.g. thumbnail bar, burger menu). As result, the “balance” momentarily looks like this:

  • Javascript: 64 book parameters, no “official” page parameters yet
  • mz3Viewer: 49 book parameters, 28 page parameters

Side effect: If an mz3Viewer parameter is modified, it might (!) work in the JavaScript version also!

Example:
Although “page parameters” are not offered for the Javascript version yet, some page parameters are already supported.
Like “bgcolor” (page background color) or “dragrange”!

Basic settings JS variant

Setting the navigation buttons

Starting with version 2.4.3.13 additionally to the “navigation bar” (a list of icons and/or text links arranged in a line above the book) as an additional option a “burger menu” is available.
The symbol used to open a list with icons and/or text links) is very common on mobile devices, because it saves a lot of space if not used and is well known.
The three horizontal bars remind of the burger menu remind to layers of a burger. That’s where the name “burger menu” was derived from.

Both variants the navigation bar and the burger menu can be activated individually. If both are active, the navigation bar is used in landscape mode and the burger menu in portrait mode.
The font-size and icon width are adjusted to the available space (i.e. the width of the bar). If the calculated size will be smaller than 8px for the text or 24 px for the icon width, the navigation bar is switched off and the burger menu is activated.

Menu Content

The content for navigation bar and burger menu is the same and can be defined in a comfortable flexible way in a special window.
That window is opened via the Link Buttons.

“Modify Language Icon”

Language icons can be defined in case of a multilingual book, i.e. if more than one language is available.
If at least 2 language variants of a book are created, buttons for changing the language can be defined in addition to the “Link Buttons”.
Those buttons or optionally simply the 2-letter language code are displayed either in the navigation bar at a parameterizable position or below the burger menu icon.

The first line in the window is extended by an additional button for changing the language icons, and a status display with information about the available languages and their settings.
If no icons (for example, national flag or “designed” language code) have yet been assigned, the language code itself (2 lowercase letters) will be displayed in a light gray color.

Set Language Buttons

A click on the Modify Language Icon button opens a new window in which the layout of the language switch buttons can be set:

  • Language code abbreviation
By default, the two letters of the languages are displayed. So nothing needs to be set to display the language code in the navigation bar.
  • Flag or language icon
For some languages, buttons with the language code as icons are available, which can be selected and assigned.
Alternatively, a flag icon may be assigned to a language

Example: Status display

The number of defined social buttons, as well as the setting of the voice buttons, are displayed in a short status display,
A gray language code in lowercase letters indicates that no icon is used, but the language code is displayed directly.
If the language code is in green capital letters, enclosed in square brackets, i.e. as shown in the example above, icons have been assigned to the corresponding languages.

These “indicator” give immediate feedback about the situation of the language buttons.

Page-Flip buttons, Page Numbers, Thumbnails

The page selection control buttons and the page number display can be activated or hidden separately.
The corresponding button or information is only displayed in the book if the related checkbox is marked.

Flip Buttons
The arrows on the left and right side of the book are used to navigate to the previous or next page.

Left Pg#
Es kann die aktuell aufgeschlagene Seitennummer angezeigt werden.

total Pg#
Beneath the left page number field the total page count of the book can be shown.

Thumb Nails
If thumbnails have been created (automatically when Page Images are added or via the Build Thumbnails command), this checkbox enables or disables those thumbnails.
If enabled, the bar with the thumbnails can be hidden (and shown again) by the user at any time (swipe down or up, Key “M” or “I”)

JS Book Parameter

Clicking on the Book Parameter button opens a window in which the book parameters supported by the Javascript version can be configured. Making use of book parameters is straight forward and comfortable. Please find details here: Book Attributes

JS Element Parameter

Click on one of the buttons:

opens the settings window of the corresponding element. Here the JS specific parameters can be adjusted.
